THE
DYANAMITE FAMILY:
Dynamite has
existed in one form or another for five years in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Beginning as a "gallery project", shifting to a "space
project", and settling as an "art group" it now feels
more like a family than an art experiment. Until last
year, Dynamite existed largely within the confines of the city of
Grand Rapids, but more recently we have been making an effort to
broaden our network. Living in a not-so-large city is challenging
for artists, but by finding friends and like-minded groups in other
places we have been able to build a support structure without the
need for geographical proximity.
Our projects reflect our interests and our interests are constantly
evolving. The path we are on currently can be approximated
like this: we are interested in creating and/or organizing
activities that call for group participation and which rupture,
criticize, sidestep, or engage norms of American life, culture and
habit. We are always looking to meet new groups and individuals,
please check us out on tour, come visit us in Grand Rapids or send
us a letter/email.
