NFO XPO
the information
exposition was part of version>04, organized by lumpen.
the expo was put together by daniel tucker in an effort to bring
art groups together to exchange information and ideas as well as
provide a public platform for each group to present themselves.

dynamite travelled
from grand rapids to chicago, leaving paper replica's of alexander
calder's la vitesse along the way. models were also left
near the original in grand rapids and another calder sculpture in
chicago.
la vitesse
has an odd history in grand rapids. it was one of the first
monumental public sculptures to be placed and was originally met
with great disdain by the grand rapids community. over time, the
sculpture has become an icon for the city - an image of it is emblazoned
on street signs and city vehicles.
recently an
agency interested in capitalizing on the growing downtown area offered
to purchase the land where the sculpture and city building are located
in order to build a large hotel. the prospect of relocating the
citiy's beloved icon generated an outcry from a number of community
members. thus far, the proposed hotel has been put off indefinately.

along with the
calder replicas, we also made a cd featuring music by grand rapids
bands and a video of the scenic drive into the city. each case included
a handmade cover, a copy of our friendster profile (circa april
2004), a dynamite family tree and a pre-stamped, pre-addressed postcard
and a sheet of contact information for local art and music venues.
